Mufti Day

                  On Friday Rakaia School had a Mufti Day.  Rakaia School had the mufti day because 10Q are doing inquiry and some 10Q kids were helping the Fiji fanilies who lost there homes in the cyclone Winston. The 10Q children went around every class room and judged their  Mufti clothes.(I am the one in the blue jacket, standing on the right hand side)           

On Friday we went to mufti day but it was literally like every other day. We done Music,Mandarin,Ict and Art. At the end we all took a photo

                                                             

Today is Friday 17th of June. Its mufti day. This mufti day is for fundraising

to Kids can, Fiji and Philippines. We all had to donate a gold coin for fundraising.

Matariki star gazing

Yesterday we did Matariki star gazing It was fun.  We look a moon mars and  jupiter it is amazing.       

We got to have a tea at school.

then we began feasting I had a drink and heaps of pizza and chips the chip were very salty.










Next we went star gazing  we looked at mars,jupiter
and the moon. The moon looks so big through a telescope.

       MATARIKI STAR GAZING NIGHT

Last night at school we had a Matariki star gazing night. Two astronomers from the Ashbourton astronomy club came to speak to us and they bought their telescopes so we could look at the stars. We got to see the moon really close up, Jupiter and its four moons, mars and Saturn. Everyone who came brought some food it was delicous.

stargazing, we saw Jupiter Moon even mars.We also saw constellations like, jewelry box, Scorpio,
and lots more.This is an image of the two pointers and jewelry box.The two

Tipeti dressed up as the Joker from batman. I dressed up as a zombie it was really fun!

The Teachers dressed up as witches! it was scary they sounded really weird! 

This was Really fun there was a assembly and we went though the classes to 10Q there was a junior that had mike from monsters ink it was MASSIVE! it was awesome, i wish there was another day like this..

Yesterday on Thursday Mahi Tahi, Rakaia School had a feast  while the teachers, Kids and parents were waiting for the astronomy people  to set up the teloscope so we could look at Mars, Jupiter and the moon!

The food in the feast were so nice!

We could also play outside it was so much fun

Xavier and jacks 2 and 3 diget times table trick

My dream house.

MY DREAM HOUSE.
My dream house will be next to Teagans house it will be black and white. My house will have a underground secret tunnel leading to Hani and Ella's  house. It will be the best house house in Ireland. My house will have 60 computers and 40 tvs.
Upstairs 
Upstairs will be a minecraft room. At the end of the room will be a sleepover room with a extra large 3D cinema. Me and Teagan will have a joint youtube gaming room connected by a purple with white polkadotted balcony. At the end of the top floor would be a toilet room and a separate pantry.
Downstairs
Downstairs will be all the boring things like a portable kitchen on a double decker bus spray painted white and red. There will be 3 master bedrooms a purple one that is Teagans, a black and white one that is mine and there will be a color changing one that is for anyone. Also there will be a fish tank toilet. Next door will be a bathroom with the toilet sink and next to it will be a joint shower and bath. 
Back yard.
In the back yard will be a go kart arena with 4 carts (Teagans,Hani’s,Ellas and mine) on the left will be a spa pool that fits 10 people in it. Around the back yard would be lot of speakers. The backyard will also include a colourful dance floor. By the house will be a tree house.

By the corner of the house is a oak tree hut with a ladder going up in the tree house is a homework room  a pantry, mini fridge a look out to Teagans house. Next to the lookout is a telephone and a tv to skype people.
The front yard.
The front yard has a stone path with 2 oak minecraft trees. 1 on each side of the front corner stone path. The drive way is a stone path leading into the flash shiney black and white garage.

In my garage i would have 2 ferries blue and red and 1 white lamborghini. 

My dream house is 2 storey and is the best house in Ireland. My house would be waterproof because floods.  

Sam johnson

                                                                          Teacher Week
Next week I am doing a blog about three Teachers. They will be Posted on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. One from the senior syndicate.One from the junior syndicate. Also a deputy teacher.
I meant one of the Deputy teachers that have been here when I (Ace) was here.

Our awesome school

Rakaia school is awesome.We have a giant field.
we have about 9 rooms at our school.We also have 3 play grounds one for little little kids one for little kids and one for the big kids.On one side of the field we have the huts.Which is just trees that people climb in.On the other side we have  a big garden and a obstacle course in the trees.At the end of the field we have a long hedge.It is as far as we can go. a long time ago a sink hole opened up near our new room.We got a new room nine or eight months ago i cost about $900,000. We have 4 smart T.V's about 20 chrome books [chrome books are just little computers]about 20 ipad's and tones of desks.

Bread Roll Baking In 10Q

       Yummy Bread Rolls!!!

Every second Thursday in 10Q we do home economics. This time we made yummy bread rolls!!! I was in a group with Mollie-Kate, Leah, Ryan, Quintin and me! Ours turned out really good, they were delicous too! We got to put ham, cheese and tomatos in them.

Mahi Tahi Guest

Today Mahi Tahi had the privilege to have a special guest with us this Morning named Sam Johnson. He belongs to the Student Volunteer Army. Sam Johnson came up with this idea to form a group with different abilities to help plan a way to help clean the silt from the Christchurch Earthquake. He inspired us with many words and stories, one of it was to always come up with ideas and share and tell it to someone, because your ideas can change or save someone's life.

Friday 10th June 2016 Rakaia school (Mahitahi) invited Sam Johnson to our school.

He came to Rakaia school, because the yr 5&6 are learning about how they could help to save the world. Sam Johnson talked about the places around the world that he has helped save.  

Today we've had one great privilege to have a special guest to come and meet our Mahi Tahi team. His name is Sam Johnson and he is an inspiring young man that lends himself to help the world from bad disasters as part of his job.  He has started a student army. It is a team that helps others and Sam has also received an award for Young New Zealander of the Year for all his work.We thank Sam for coming to our school.

Friday the 3rd of June 2016, Rakaia school had a monster dress up day. Everyone had to dress up in the most craziest, most funniest costumes they could think of. Lots of people were vampires, some were ghosts and some were clowns. Also on Friday there were cross country finals. So some people that were going, dressed up in their normal clothes. Since I had to go to cross country Mr Bloob a bookmark I made on Thursday, replaced me. 

   
I thought monster day was an awesome time to let your imagination run wild and to see all the fantastic creations people thought of :)

Dress up day

Welcome to my blog. On the 3 June we done monster dress up day we dressed up as crazy and scary monsters in the morning  we done crazy jump jam. Next we had rotation number 1 and that was ICT ICT is when we learn about ho to blog. After brain break we go to art that is when we do our very stretched portraits. Next we had music but in between music I had to go to cross country counties because when we versed Dorie I came 6th place.

10R Earthquake

“What is happening?”, my voice panics, buildings are tumbling everywhere and sirens are echoing down the damaged streets. I scan this horrible scene and can see the disaster and difference of the city. The smell of smoke floats past my nostrils, coming from a car caught on fire. Bricks crumble down to the cracked pathways, and dust puffs up in the air. Parents, kids and families holler for help, and try to escape from the earthquake.  My attention is suddenly drawn to the line of Fire Engines and Ambulances hastening for rescue, my ears twitch a little from the boisterous noise of the sirens. I pause for a minute and shudder from the noise that is happening around me. This is a NIGHTMARE.

This is how you learn your 12 X tables easily.

On Thursday 2nd of June 10Q baked yummy bread rolls.

Everyone in 10Q were in groups of four. It was messy.

At the end all the groups got to eat the bread rolls.

some were great some were bad but we all got to bake.

If you want to bake these bread rolls, here's the recipe.

Ingredients: 200g Strong flour

1 tbs of salt

7g fast action dried yeast

150ml warm water

1 tbs of suger

Equipment:Sifter, mixing bowl, weighing scales,measuring jug, baking tray, palette knife and cooking tray.

How to bake it
1. Preheat the oven to 220 C,gas mark 7 and grease the baking tray.
2.Sift the flour and the salt into the mixing bowl [don't forget to measure!]
3.Add the yeast and sugar.
4.Add the water and start mixing into a soft dough
5.Knead the dough for 10 minutes.
6.Divide the dough into 4 parts and shape them into rolls.
7.Place them into the greased baking tray
8.Cover the bread rolls and let them prove for 30 minutes
9.Place the oven and wait for 15 minutes, until they are golden brown

Home economics/Cooking

Yesterday on Thursday we have been doing Cooking.  We cooked bread rolls and this is what we do every second Thursday.  Two weeks ago we made cheese straws.  I rated making cheese straws 2/5 and bread rolls 4/5.                                                         Today we had a monster mufti day. It was so

                                                       scary and fun. My friends thought I had dressed up as a Lolly Pop                                                                 vampire,

                                                        but I just tried to dress up like a vampire.

                                                        We had a monster mufti day because it was book week.

                                                        These girls all dressed up as a witch, a vampire (i think)

                                                        a devil and at the end just in mufti. My favourite part of 

                                                        the week was dressing up! At the end of the day we had to 

                                                        go to the Assembly for the mufti parade. As the class rooms

                                                        stood up to show people their funky costumes I thought to 

                                                        myself WOW they are amazing.

Click,click, smash, bang

Click, click, click, my work buddies and I type on our sweaty,  greasy keyboards. Rattle, crack, shake, smash. Suddenly my computer falls then the building goes it crumbles with in seconds. All I can here now is faint screams and a groan from close-by. I yell “are you okay?” No response.  Hopefully all it was that he didn't hear me. I yell again this time I hear back “yeah I should be” “are you you stuck under this stone hard frozen brick to?” Yes! Sirens Echo through the the daunted city. I smell smoke there must be a fire in our building, water starts to seep through beneath the rubble where I am hidden, after 5 minuets feet start to crunch up the mountain of rubble he can't here me So I fought and struggle to make movement. The hero called for help. I got out with only a Broken leg and severe bruising.

On Friday Rakaia School had monster dress up day. People dressed up as Zombies, Werewolves, Monster highs and all sorts! At the end of the day we had a parade! We still had our normal day. I dressed up as a Monster High. It was fun at Rakaia School!

On Friday we had a monster dress up day. All the teachers dressed up as well they all dressed up the same ( like witches .) We also had a competition to who dressed the best. Then we had a competition to see who had written the best monster story.

Workshops

In Mahi-Tahi we are introducing learning workshops. Workshops are a 30 minute lessons that we choose to attend.

These workshops help us direct our learning and develop our independence. We are only doing a few per week, soon we will do some more so we choose every lesson we attend.

              pitch blackness surrounds me. last thing I remember is               diving under my desk...but that feels like hours ago.

Suddenly, a muffled dogs bark rings in my ears my hope starts to bloom.               try to yell out but my voice jams itself in my throat                                                  Would I just have to wait?

light flows through rubble suddenly I go blind.I'm saved  My city lies in ruins my heart tears in two,Is this really our city.I suddenly realize what the liquid is,It stains my dress crimson red.

I can't feel my legs I'm unable to stand. Paramedics run over to me.the look on their face says it all. My world blurs  

I'm thrown back into consciousness with a jolting shake I'm awake. My city is gone and in its place is chaos 

My Writing

                     The Christchurch Earthquake

With a thundering shake it all happened in an instant.

I open my eyes and I am lying on the cold,rough ground.

My ears are ringing and the fresh air gone replaced by the strong stench of dust and smoke.

I look around,people are crying and some are badly hurt.

Most buildings now lay flat half way out across the road.

A police car is up in front of me and I realise my ears aren't ringing but it's the ear piercing screams of the never ending sirens.

I stand up causioly taking in everything in around me.

An aftershock hits hard making it impossible to stand.

The only thing going through my head is I hope my friends and family are ok.

I count to ten another aftershock shakes me.This is the worst nightmare I've ever had.

What's happening? I hear people crying in pain and loss. The ground starts shaking under my feet as I scamper down the battered footpath. I see rubble from buildings covering every street. Siren start to wail like a baby crying for their mother. I start to choke on all of the dust in my mouth. I wonder, when will this end...

Christchurch Earthquake

What it was like : the Christchurch earthquake

Sitting at the table alone I feel it rattle , I carelessly ignore this sign but I know I shouldn’t have.As bricks start to fall in the distance I take a glimpse out the window. Everyone was running and sirens were wailing. I turn around and thought to run through the open door but as I am running towards the door bricks and dust fall and block my only exit.

I’m trapped , I know I can’t get out. All of a sudden a light bulb falls from the ceiling and crashes next to me. I think if I will ever be found. I freeze. Then I can’t see anything. It is as black as the nights sky.

My eyes flutter open and I see that I’m in a room. The floor is covered with kids junk including clothing,teddies, and books. I notice that I am in my room. My parents are on the side of my bed wiping the sweat off my face and reassuring me that everything is okay.

I realise it was just a nightmare and it is all over.

My Earthquake Story

What It Was Like

Eating our lunch, chatting away,

Suddenly the table starts to sway,

The windows start to shatter,

I ask Dad "What's the matter,"

As he looks for somewhere to go...

Dad shouts at me "MOVE!" 

But I don' know what to do,

Should I do what my dad says,

My mind says I should, but my body just betrayes,

Quickly my Dad grabs my arm...

We run outside as I slowly start to cry, 

Why is this happening? Why?

People are screaming, the city starts to crumble,

Injured workers are escaping from the rubble,

Suddenly it all starts to stop...

The ground stops shaking,

The buildings stop quaking,

Was it just a dream?

I start to cry and scream,

As my Dad comes and says "It's OK"

This is 10R doing art. We do art every Friday with miss Gardyne. 10R are doing zentangle art. I enjoy doing art. Some art we did is we had a buddy and we drawed each other not looking at the paper! We also are doing zentangle.

 This week's book week activities. Every afternoon a teacher has read us a book, In the library. We have had fun activities running like monster making, mask designing and colouring in today we had a  monster dress up day. The whole school is involved there were  Zombies, Vampires and Sesame street Monsters, I can't wait until next year's book week!
