She is now a Blake house teacher. We are happy to have her. She was hired in place of Mr Burford. We hope that she will enjoy teaching.

10R, Jump Jam Fridays

Jump Jam

Rakaia students at Rakaia School have our Jump Jam warm ups every Friday. We have our lovely Leaders Mahina, Emma, Talita, Josh and Seth to lead the Jump Jam songs up on the veranda, with the Rakaia students following along. This helps the Rakaia kids to get warmed up and to freshened their body for the day. Our leaders practise every Tuesdays and Thursdays to teach the Rakaia kids on Friday. We enjoy doing this every Friday, and hoping to this for the rest of the terms. :)

What we are learning at school.

At Rakaia School on Fridays we get to do multiple fun stuff including ICT, Mandarin, Art and Music. Last week we had Cross Country and the school did really well. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday we do rotations which include Literacy, Maths and Spelling. And you can't forget about Jump Jam. Plus the brand new teacher.

Learning Mandarin

We are having such great fun learning words and a dance with our fabulous teacher Miss Zhong.  The new dance we learnt was called the rabbit dance.  It's to help us remember certain words we have learnt today. Our Mahi Tahi team are starting to become Mandarin experts.

Happy House Colour Day

Happy House Colour Day

Today we have house colour day. Sheppard is yellow, Rutherford is red, Blake is blue and Hillary is green. In the afternoon, we gather into our house groups and play games.
Everyone puts effort into what colours they wear... even the teachers do.
House colour day is really fun and great for showing the Rakaia school values quality, partnership and respect.

The beginning of our journey...

As the sun rose on our first day of Term 2, 2016, we blessed our new learning space in preparation for our new innovative learning journey.  Mahitahi was blessed, our links to our maunga and awa acknowledge as we join together as collaborative partners to become reciprocal akonga - teachers and students as one.

This blog will capture our learning and partnership journey as we navigate our way towards becoming confident, capable 21st century learners.
